Travel Policies
What's the travel mileage window when traveling with youth and adults?
Stake approval not required for travel inside 75-mile radius of Stake Center
The Prescott Valley Stake Presidency defines the 75-mile radius from the Stake Center as the local area. Stake approval is not required when traveling inside the local area unless your activity involves one or more of the 6 high risk activities defined on the Home page.
Stake approval required for travel outside 75-mile radius of Stake Center but inside the state of Arizona
Long-distance travel for youth activities is highly discouraged. The Prescott Valley Stake Presidency defines long-distance travel as travel outside the 75-miles radius from the Stake Center but inside the state of Arizona. All long-distance travel requires stake presidency approval. Travel outside the state of Arizona is not permitted.
What if the activity requires travel?
Leaders should follow the travel policies outlined in the General Handbook, 20.7.7, including the following:
Long-distance travel for activities is discouraged.
Vehicles should be in safe operating condition.
When participants travel in private passenger vehicles, each person should have a seat belt and use it.
Drivers should be licensed, responsible adults (20-years-old or older), and each vehicle should be covered by reasonable insurance.
Appropriate forms completed if driving outside the local area (click on the Forms link in the Navigation bar at the top of this page).
Additionally:
Drivers should obey all laws.
Drivers should not drive when drowsy, use a mobile phone while driving, or engage in behaviors that would distract them.
Whenever possible, an adult should not be one-on-one with youth.
